2024 PFMC State Festivals Piano Competition

The Pennsylvania Federation of Music Clubs held their State Festivals Piano Competition at the Trachte Music Center/Honors Hall on the campus of Lycoming College in Williamsport on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Twenty five students competed for awards and monetary prizes. Students who won the Regional round from the West, Central, and East comprised the State competitors.

Thank you to their teachers: Katherine Barley, Charlene Hubbard, Deborah Kelleher, Joyce Gindlesperger, Rebecca Lewis, Linda Maurhoff, Elaine Mosteller, Amber Nicholson,

April Pellegrini, John G. Ravert, Sr., Terrie Scarboro, Susan Kuntz, and Darlene Ziegler who worked diligently to prepare their students for both the Regional and State Competitions. A total of $ 1,000 was awarded to the level winners, along with $1,300 in Outstanding Awards.

Judges for the PFMC State Finals were: Dr. Karen Zereconsky, DMA from Manhattan School of Music, Masters from Juilliard School of Music; Dr. David Curtin, DMA in Piano performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and Dr. Marcos Krieger, DMA from University of Nebraska, Associate Professor of Music, Susquehanna University.

It was not only an exciting day for all students to make new friends and compete in this big event, but a delight for family, friends, PFMC Board members and teachers to witness their amazing talent! Congratulations to all!
