This year, the PFMC West Piano Competition was held on May 1, 2021 at PYCO School of Music in Wexford, Pennsylvania. It had an outstanding turnout with thirty-two students competing for various prizes. It was a lovely sunny day and the Recital Hall at PYCO was filled with wonderful musical sounds. Eight class levels from the NFMC Festival program for piano solo were represented and fourteen teachers prepared the participating students.
The event was organized by PFMC President, Charlene Hubbard, PFMC West Chair, assisted that day by two of Charlene’s students, as well as PFMC Vice President, Kristin Ivers/Williamsport. The event was adjudicated by Dr. Josie Merlino, Brina Davis, and James W. Iman.
